Fast, Reliable Drug Testing for New Hires

Hiring a new employee and need a pre-employment drug test? goMDnow makes it fast, simple, and fully online to order drug testing for job candidates anywhere in the United States.

Whether you are a small business, trucking company, staffing agency, construction employer, healthcare organization, or corporate employer, we help you screen new hires and keep your workplace safe and compliant.

When should a pre-employment drug test be ordered?

Pre-employment testing is typically ordered after a conditional job offer and before the employee begins work. For DOT-regulated positions, pre-employment testing may be required before an employee performs safety-sensitive functions.

  • New CDL driver onboarding
  • Pre-hire screening for safety-sensitive roles
  • Staffing agency placements
  • Construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics hiring
  • Company policy or client contract requirements

DOT and Non-DOT Pre-Employment Testing

goMDnow supports both DOT and non-DOT pre-employment drug testing. DOT testing must follow federal drug testing requirements, while non-DOT testing follows the employer's written drug-free workplace policy.

Our team can help employers choose the appropriate test reason, panel, and collection process based on whether the position is DOT-regulated or covered by an internal workplace policy.

How the process works

  1. Order the pre-employment test online.
  2. Enter candidate and employer information.
  3. The candidate receives collection site instructions.
  4. The candidate completes testing at a nearby clinic.
  5. Results are processed and delivered securely.

Key Requirements & What Employers Need to Know

Pre-employment testing must be completed and a negative result confirmed before the employee performs safety-sensitive functions. For DOT-regulated positions, additional requirements apply.

DOT-regulated positions (FMCSA/CDL) A verified negative result is required before the driver performs any safety-sensitive function. Employers must also query the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse before every new CDL hire — regardless of prior employer.
Non-DOT positions Testing is governed by the employer's written drug-free workplace policy. Employers choose the panel, test reason, and any additional screening requirements based on their industry and role type.
Negative result = cleared to start A negative result means the employee may begin safety-sensitive duties. A positive result triggers MRO review and may require follow-up action per the employer's policy or DOT rules.
Result turnaround Most negative urine drug test results are available within 1–3 business days. Results requiring MRO review (non-negative) may take longer. Hair test results typically take 2–5 business days.

DOT Clearinghouse query required: Before hiring a CDL driver, employers must conduct a full query of the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. If the driver has an active PROHIBITED status, they cannot be hired into a safety-sensitive role until the Return-to-Duty process is complete.

goMDnow supports 5-panel and 10-panel pre-employment testing for DOT and non-DOT programs. Member pricing starts at $69.95 for urine testing. See full pricing →
