Common Testing Reasons
Employers use goMDnow to support practical drug and alcohol testing workflows across the employee
lifecycle. Testing reason, panel type, and DOT/non-DOT status should match your company policy and
regulatory requirements.
Pre-employment testingScreen candidates before start
date or assignment.
Random testingSupport ongoing safety-sensitive
workforce programs.
Post-accident testingDocument testing after eligible
workplace or vehicle incidents.
Reasonable suspicionSupport supervisor-directed
testing when impairment concerns arise.
Consortium Membership for Discounted Testing Rates
Companies outside transportation can still join goMDnow as a consortium member to receive discounted
member pricing on commonly ordered drug and alcohol tests. Membership is especially helpful for
employers that order pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, or periodic
testing throughout the year.
Important: Joining as a member for discounted testing rates is different from being
placed in a DOT random testing pool. DOT random pool enrollment is used when applicable for
DOT-regulated employers and CDL drivers. Non-DOT employers can use membership for lower testing
rates without needing DOT random pool enrollment unless a regulated program applies.

USCG, FRA, and DOT Considerations
USCG, FRA, and other DOT-regulated testing programs require specific procedures and documentation.
Employers should confirm the governing rule set before ordering. goMDnow can help route customers to
appropriate DOT or non-DOT testing options.
Nationwide and Multi-Site Employers
Maritime and rail employers may need testing across ports, terminals, yards, worksites, and travel
locations. goMDnow’s network helps reduce the burden of finding local collection sites for each
location.
Compliance-Focused Process
A proper program should include a written policy, employee notices, consent where applicable, correct
test reason, MRO review for drug tests, and secure documentation. goMDnow helps employers streamline
testing and support audit readiness.
